1. Safeguarding Children:
Aim: To update knowledge and skills regarding Safeguarding of Children
What you will learn:
- Legislation and safeguarding
- Definitions of child abuse

2. Promoting Play:
Aim: To explore the meaning and the value of play
What you will learn:
- The different types of play
- The psychology of play
- Understand the importance of play within the nursery and at home
- Identify ways to introduce play
- Understand how to involve parents
- Links to child development

3. Taking a close look at observation and assessment:
Aim: To explore the skills required by delegates for effective observations and assessments
What you will learn:
- The importance of observations in the Early Years Foundation Stage
- The definition of observation and assessment
- How to link theory to practice

4. How to include children in everything you do
Aim: To understand the importance of inclusion within a childcare setting
What you will learn:
- The history of, and legislation surrounding, inclusion
- What does inclusion really mean?
- How to promote inclusion in the setting

5. An overview of childhood ailments:
Aim: To give an overview of common childhood illnesses and their management
What you will learn:
- Different types of common childhood ailments
- How to recognise when a child is unwell
- Safe procedures to follow
- Documentation

6. Early learning goals explored:
Aim: To examine the early learning goals and their implication for practice within the EYFS
What you will learn:
- Become more familiar with all of the early learning goals and understand their meaning
- Identify ways to provide activities to link to children attaining the early learning goals
- Links to the Early Years Foundation Stage
Length of course: 3 hours
7. Post-Natal depression:
Aim: to give an insight into this condition and the current treatment/management
What you will learn:
- What Post Natal depression is / the causes of Post Natal depression
- Men and Post Natal depression
- The management and treatment of Post Natal depression
Length of course: 3 hours
8. Sleep Management in babies and children:
Aim: To explore sleep patterns/problems in babies and children and their management
What you will learn:
- Normal and abnormal sleep patterns
- Problems associated with sleep and how to overcome them
- Sleep management techniques

9. Early Years Foundation Stage in bite-sized chunks:
Aim: You choose any section of the EYFS and we will provide training on this for you
What you will learn: You will identify the area you wish to focus on within the EYFS.
These sessions are two hours long, but can be mixed and matched to form a full day or even half day course-whatever suits you. Examples of what you may wish to cover are:
- The legislation surrounding the EYFS and why it came into place
- What do the themes, principles and commitments, mean for childcare
- Understanding the welfare requirements
- Balancing out the assessment scales

10. Diversity and Cultural awareness:
Aim: to explore the importance of acknowledging diversity and culture in the setting
What you will learn:
- What is meant by diversity and culture?
- Anti-discriminatory practice
- Different types of discrimination
- Legislation
- Government policies
- How to promote culture and diversity

11. 'E' is for environment:
Aim: To identify ways to provide a safe and stimulating environment for babies and children
What you will learn:
- What does the environment mean?
- How can the environment affect a child's development?

12. The developing baby, toddler and child:
Aim: To identify the stages of child development from birth to five
What you will learn:
- How babies, toddlers and children develop up to the age of five
- All areas of development
- How to encourage development with children
- Identifying a child who may not be developing
- Working with and educating Parents / Carers
- Links to the Early Years Foundation Stage
Length of course: 6 hours
13. The value of exercise for children:
Aim: To identify the benefits of exercise for children
What you will learn:
- How does exercise link to children's development
- How to encourage children to exercise

14. Developing effecting partnerships with Parents / Carers
Aim: To enable delegates to work with parents / carers more effectively and in partnership
What you will learn:
- Effective communication with parents / carers
- Building rapport with parents / carers
- Effective sharing of information

15. Managing Children's Behaviour
Aim: To build on current knowledge of Behaviour management and explore new strategies
